Crackpot calendar

Dar în ce faza productivă am intrat, nu? Nah, dacă sunteți curioși să vedeți ce mă ține așa de ocupată, check out Harper’s Bazaar.

Până vă povestesc de alte demersuri, o pauză binemeritată a fost sosirea noului calendar Crackpot. Frenezia Crackpot a început acum patru ani, când voiam să iau un cadou binegândit ca design, prietenului meu designer. 😛

Primul l-am luat de la Cărturești, dar următoarele au ajuns toate la ușa mea prin BookDepository. E fain să ții evidența timpului cu o imagine frumoasă, iar uneori imaginile se potrivesc cu ce mi se întâmplă în acea săptămână, și mă ajută să-mi amintesc totul mai bine. Și imaginea și întâmplarea. Plănuiesc să înrămez unele din printurile preferate Crackpot, adunate de-a lungul anilor, și astfel voi avea un frumos perete de artă, ca niciodată. Nu am avut obiceiul de a expune artă pe pereți, până când am descoperit minunata lumea a designului.

La sfârșitul anului trecut, nu voiam decât să iau o pauză, așa că m-am așezat pe un nor…

Until then, a great break was the arrival of the new Crackpot calendar. The Crackpot frenzy started four years ago when I wanted a design gift for my boyfriend, the designer :P.

I got my first copy at Cărtureși, but since then I have been ordering online from BookDepository. It’s fun to keep track of time with a beautiful image and sometimes the images clicks tot what’s happening that week, and you remember everything in detail, the picture and the event. I plan on framing some of my favorite prints from Crackpot, and thus will have a beautiful art wall, like never before. Because I didn’t use to hang art on my walls until a couple of years ago, when I discovered the beautiful world of design.

At the end of last year all I wanted to do is have a break, so I sat on a cloud…

În timp ce stăteam pe nor, mi-a venit strălucita idee de a comanda noul calendar și am lăsat ultimul print pe perete, în așteptarea prietenilor săi.

Văd că începutul de an are leitmotivul albastrului. Iar asta a fost săptămâna când mi-a venit strălucitoarea idee.

Melodia perfectă pentru lucru/ The perfect song to start work

Nu pot lucra decât cu o anumită muzică: downtempo (acum am aflat si eu) și fără voce. Orice altceva mă distrage și mă agită, iar deseori alegeam să stau fără muzică și mi-am dat seama că încurajam o atmosferă tristă în spațiul de lucru, mai ales că rareori am parte de procese mecanice, cu gesturi reflex, fără să trebuiască să analizez fiecare pas. Când pornesc motorașul creativ e încă foarte ușor de împrăștiat în 20 de direcții fără să-mi dau seama.

Iar combinația ideală în ultimele două săptămâni a fost să încep cu The Love Room de la Caia. De fapt, tot albumul The Magic Dragon este în playlistul meu de lucru. Dar piesa asta de început e perfectă, exact cât ritm e nevoie ca să fiu liniștită, dar să am energie și să mă concentrez pe lucru.

Iar în zilele astea ploioase, când pare noapte tot timpul, cine nu are nevoie de mici ajutoare ca să înceapă lucrul?

I cannot work unless I have a specific music: downtempo (just found out that what it’s called) and no voice. Anything else just ends up distracting me and often I preffered not to listen to music and ecourage a rather gloomy atmosphere while working. I seldom can do work based only on mechanic processes, just reflex gestures, without having to decide something every step I take. When I get the creative engine started it’s still far too easy to get it dispersed in 20 different directions, without even realizing. 

And the ideal combinationfor the last two weeks was to start off the work day with Caia‘s The Love Room. Actually, the whole album  The Magic Dragon is in my working playlist. 

But this is the perfect starting song for me, it has the right rythm to keep me calm, but energetic and focused on work. 

And these rainy, windy days, when night is lurking even in broad daylight, who doesn’t need little helpers for starting work?

3. Mi-aș dori să existe o variantă online a revistei The Gentlewoman. Cu Angela Lansbury pe copertă, nici că se poate mai bine. Și cu ținuta de geek elegant e și mai încântătoare.

5. Damn Fine Coffee este o revistă creată de fani în cinstea serialului lui David Lynch, Twin Peaks. La fel ca fetelor de pe ModCloth, îmi place Twin Peaks, mai ales că mi-a influențat copilăria.

Îmi amintesc că ne jucam de-a Twin Peaks, fiecare era un personaj și inventa o nouă poveste pentru el. Eu m-am nimeri Laura, pentru că-mi plăcea mult numele.

Știu c n-am înțeles prea multe din serial pentru că aveam doar vreo 10 ani, dar plănuiesc să revăd seria cât de curând, cu ochii de adult.

Damn Fine Coffee a primit fonduri de pe Kickstarter și va fi o revistă de 60 de pagini cu ilustrații ce aduc omagiu minunatei și stranii lumi a serialului din anii’90. Preview-ul arată bestial.

Damn Fine Coffee is a fan zine dedicated to David Lynch’s Twin Peaks. I love Twin Peaks, like the girls at ModCloth, because it really influenced my childhood. I remember playing TwinPeaks games, everyone chose a character and developed a story as we went along. For some reason I was Laura, because I really liked the name.

I know I didn’t understand much of the series at the age of ten, but I plan on rewatching the series to see it with fresh eyes.

Damn Fine Coffee is going to be a 60 page magazine full of illustrations paying homage to the beautiful eerie world of the ’90s show. The preview looks awesome.

6. Tot de pe ModCloth mi-am amintit că-mi place mult de Charlotte Taylor. Duo-ul a debutat doar în 2010, dar printurile lor pe mătase, simple și jucăușe, combinate cu siluete clasice feminine sunt o combinație fermecătoare și unică. Inspirația a fost Cornish Tin Mining, Pirates and Smugglers și Gypsy Jazz. Mie-mi face co ochiul printul cu gramofoane, care bnuiesc că e materializarea Gypsy Jazz.

Also found on ModCloth is the reminder that I love Charlotte Taylor. The duo debuted in only 2010, but the simple whimsical prints on wonderful silk, combined with classic feminine silhouettes are charming and unique.  The inspiration was Cornish Tin Mining, Pirates and Smugglers and Gypsy Jazz. I especially love the gramophone print, which I gather is Gypsy Jazz.

7. În bologna există un mural uriaș care ajută la puriicarea aerului, după cum am citit pe  PSFK. Artistul italian Andreco a folosit o vopsea specială fotocatalitică care are proprietatea de a curăța aerul de substanțe fotochimice, cum e smogul. Muralul e în forma unui „Copac Filosofic”.

There is a giant mural that helps clean air as I found out from PSFK. Italian artist Andreco used a special photocatalytic paint that is able to clean the air of photochemicals such as smog. The mural is a ‘Philosophical Tree’ and it decorated Bologna.

Jurnalul și motivația/ A Journal and motivation

Motivația mea de a face lucruri e întotdeauna pe aceeași curbă ciudată, foarte intensă la început, foarte redusă pe parcurs.

Auto-motivațiile pozitive, precum vizualizarea fantezistă și plină de excese a scopului meu împlinit, cum e plin internetul de recomandări, nu prea au funcționat pentru mine. M-am trezit că am impresia că am terminat, că greul a trecut și nici nu începusem și… deodată nu mai aveam energie și entuziasm de nimic.

Apropo de asta, e un articol despre puterea gândirii negative, de fapt echilibrarea entuziasmului gândirii pozitive cu precauția gândirii negative pe 99U, care explică de ce creierul nostru are nevoie de asta pentru a se menține motivat.

În cazul meu, poate e lene, creier educat prost la vârstă fragedă, ce alte explicații am găsit și nu m-au ajutat. Ideea e că vreau să aflu problema și să o rezolv.

Și unul din punctele mele forte, dovedit de-a lungul anilor, e că sunt perseverentă. Poate nu în ritmul și calitatea pe care le-am visat, dar revin la aceeași problemă de câte ori trebuie. Ca blogul ăsta, de exemplu: diferitele ritmuri in care am scris aici sunt poate singura atestare publică a revenirii. 😀

Acum două zile am dat peste acest film, de pe noul meu site preferat 99U:

Am un raft dedicat jurnalelor mele, ținute de-a lungul anilor, în bibliotecă. Am simțit dintotdeauna nevoia de a ține un jurnal. Poate nu mă confesam cuiva, dar îmi vărsam emoțiile negative în acele pagini. Însă, jurnalul meu a fost dintotdeauna aproape de mine doar la momentele grele, momente care nu-mi venea să cred că există în viața mea și voiam să le depășesc.

Dna Amabile (ce nume predestinat în lucrul cu oamenii!) m-a învățat să-mi înregistrez micile progrese. Adică jurnalul meu să nu fie acolo doar la greu, ci și la bine. Și, cel mai important aspect, să recitesc ce-am scris după o perioadă.

N-am scris în jurnal așa decât de două zile, dar deja simt efectele benefice. Trăiesc cu intensitate acel moment când mă bag în pat și jurnalul e acolo. Și e momentul să-mi revăd momentele forte ale zilei. Faptul că am o misiune clară, să punctez progresele sau stagnările din proiectele mele de lucru au transformat în doar două zile obiceiul de a scrie ce mi se întâmplă, într-unul pozitiv. Căldura plapumei și scrisul cu stiloul par să-mi ofere mare confort, mă pregătesc pentru un somn relaxant plin de vise vindecătoare, tocmai datorită trecerii în revistă a zilei cu bune și rele.

Iar a doua zi continui lucrul de unde am rămas. Pentru unii oameni, acesta e un proces natural. Pentru mine abia devine.

Iar asta mă face să mă gândesc la Marele Gatsby (spoiler alert!) și pasajul din jurnalul său, de la finalul cărții. Acele câteva rânduri în care el își face o notă mentală să nu mai fumeze, pentru că nu-l ajută în scopul lui general, au făcut deodată personajul complex, puternic și hotărât să-și schimbe viața.

Dacă mai e cineva care-și dorește să ducă la capăt un proiect personal, cel mai greu de pus pe primul plan, poate ăsta e sfatul de care era nevoie.

My motivation to do stuff has always been on the same strange curve, very intense at the beginning, very low in the process.

Positive self-motivation, like the excess fantasy visualization of my already achieved purpose, of which the internet is full of, have never really worked for me. I found myself believing I was finished, that the rough times were over and I never even started and… all of a sudden I had no energy or enthusiasm to do anything.

On this subject there is a nice article on 99U, about the power of negative thinking, specifically on balancing the enthusiasm of positive thinking with the caution of negative thinking, which explains why our brains need this to stay motivated.

Maybe my case is just about sloth, a bad educated brain from an early age, whatever else there is that could explain it and never helped. The basic idea is that I want to find out what it is and solve it.

And one of my strongest suits, proved along the years, is that I persevere. Maybe not at the rhythm or the level I would like to, but the same problem comes back to me, again and again, no matter how many times it takes to solve it. Like this blog, for instance: the different rythms I had in writing here are the only public assessment of coming back. 😀

Two days ago I stumbled upon this movie, on my new favorite site 99U.

I have a special shelf in my bookcase dedicated to the journals I have been keeping along the years. Maybe I have never confessed to my journal, but it was a good way of channeling my negative thoughts in those pages. But my journal has always been there only for the bad times, those times when I couldn’t believe that something like that existed in my life and I just wanted to get over them.

Mrs. Amabile (what a name, destined for working with people! amabil=nice, kind) taught me that I should also register the small wins. As in, my journal should be there for the better too, not only the worse. And, the most important aspect that I often overlook, to read what I have written after a while.

I have just starting writing in my journal like this two days ago, but I already feel the positive effects. I intensely live that moment when I tuck myself to bed and the journal is there. And it’s time to look back at what stood out to me during the day. Having a clear mission, to review the wins and setbacks of my work day, have transformed my habit of writing things down, into a positive one.  The warmth of my blanket and writing with a inkpen seem to offer me great comfort, they prep me for a relaxing sleep full of positive dreams.

And the next day I pick up work where I left it. for some people this is natural. For me it’s just beginning to become.

And this somehow makes me think about the Great Gatsby (spoiler alert!) and his journal at the end. How the few lines where he made a note to himself that he should quit smoking because it interferes with his purpose, suddenly added depth to that person, he seemed strong and determined to change his life.

If there is someone else that wants to complete a personal project, the hardest one to prioritize, maybe this is the advice you needed.

3.1 Philip Lim: Kill the Night

Azi, într-una dintre cele mai sumbre zile din an, pline de nori reali și imaginari, vestea cea mai bună a ajuns prin poștă.
Am primit comicul Kill the Night, de la 3.1 Philip Lim. M-am înscris pe site în prima zi când am știut că trebuie să te înscrii. Nah, brand din New York, eram convinsă că nu o să trimită totul gratis până prin meleagurile noastre. Dar au trimis și pot să zic că m-am îndrăgostit.
Acum, dacă aș fi știut că va fi disponibil comicul și online, nu m-aș mai fi înscris. Amprenta ecologică a acestui mic gest este mult mai mare decât să văd catalogul online.
Și ce este Kill the Night? Este lookbook-ul toamnă-iarnă 3.1 Philip Lim. Cum moda trăiește din ‘nou’ și acel detaliu special, ideea de un comic în care eroinele sunt foarte stilate mi se pare excelentă.

Știu că deseori m-a deranjat cum sunt îmbrăcate eroinele desenate, imaginate de bărbați care n-au treabă cu stilul decât ca să acopere zonele esențiale, și mi-a fost greu să mă atașez de multe dintre ele. De multe ori am trecut și peste, ce se întâmpla în comic era mult prea interesant ca să expediez din cauza hainelor. Dar ar fi mers mai bine, așa e ca un tort prea uscat. 🙂

Colecția lui Philip Lim a fost inspirată de Sin City și V for Vendetta, iar comicbook-ul ilustrează și inspirația și modul în care designerul vede piesele lui purtate. Totuși, trei fete care lucrează pentru un om cu care comunică prin video seamănă bine de tot și cu Charlie’s Angels. Ilustratoarea aleasă este Jan Duursema, ce a desenat multe din comicurile Star Wars.

Acțiunea se concentrează pe aceste techie-girls ce trebuie să protejeze fluturele The Death Head, unic în lume, simbolul metamorfozei continue între viata și moarte. Există o contradicție la un moment dat, fetele nu știu cum arată ucigașii pe care îi urmăresc, deși au văzut imagini cu ei, în măști albe cu ochelari rotunzi și frumoase pulovere drapate 3.1 Philip Lim.

Dar, să zicem că nu asta e cel mai important, mai ales considerând despre ce vorbim, un comic, sigur trebuie să fie autoironie în marketing. Mai important e cum arată hainele. Piesele simple, cu tăieturi curate și contraste interesante par puțin plate, în schimb comicul compensează prin hainele cu drapaje și printuri, pline de volum și dinamică. Un plus sunt și măștile cu care se deghizează toată lumea la acel bal, la care participă și o femeie cu tunsoare Anna Wintour. Oricât se pierde prin desen din cusături și material, tot se vede că toată lumea e îmbrăcată impecabil.

Merită citit, măcar pentru ca e discret, hainele sunt descrise doar la final, iar, pe mine, descrierile lor ma lasă întotdeauna visând.

Later edit: Pentru comparație, montajul de pe podium îți arată eroinele moderne așa cum trebuie, în slowmotion și cu mult fum. Sunetul tare în căști și fullscreen recomandat. 🙂

Today, on one of the most sombre days of all, full of real and imaginary clouds, the best news arrived in the mail.

It was the comicbook Kill the Night, of 3.1 Philip Lim. I subscriebed the day I found out you could do that. But, considering the brand is from New York, I was  convinced they wouldn’t send it to the other side of the world for free, especially around here.  But htey did and I’m in love.

If I had known the the comic will be also available online, I wouldn’t have subscribed. The ecological footprint for this little gesture is much bigger than seeing the online version.

And what is Kill the Night? It’s the  3.1 Philip Lim autumn-winter lookbook. Because fashion is all about new and that little special detail, a comic with very stylish heroes seems like a great idea to me.

I know that often it bothered me how female heroes are dressed, probably imagined by clueless-about-style men, and it was hard to get atached to most of the characters. But most of the times I got over it, the actions was far to interesting to dismiss it over clothes. But it would have helped, this way it’s like a dry cake. 🙂

The collection is inspired by Sin City and V for Vendetta adnt he comic shows off the inspiration but the way the designer sees it styled and worn. However, three girls working for a man with whom they talk by video sounds a lot like Charlie’s Angels. The artist that drew the comic is Jan Duursema, who has illustrated many of the Star Wars comics.

The action focuses on these techie girls that must protect the one of a kind white Death Head butterfly, full of meaning, the symbol of continuous methamorphosis of life and death. There is a small contradiction, the girls don’t know how the killers they are suppose to follow look like, although they’ve just seen pictures of them in white masks with round goggles and perfectly draped Philip Lim sweaters.

But, lte’s say that’s not that important, especially consedering it’s a comic book, there must be lots of selfirony in the marketing. More important is how the clothes look. The simple pieces, with clean lines and suprising contrasts seem a little bland, but the drawings compensate with the clothes full of drapes and prints, full of volume and movement. A plus are the masks used for the modern masquerade ball, which is also attended by a Anna Wintour hairstyle lookalike. But, in the end, it doens’t matter how much of the tailoring and texture is lost through drawing, you can still see that everyone is impecabbly dressed.

I recommend the read, if you haven’t already read it, for it’s discretion, the clothes are described only on the last page, and their descriptions always leave me dreaming.

Later edit: For comparison, the runway video edit parades the modern day heroes like it should, in slowmotion and with atmospheric smoke. Put your headphones on, turn up the volume and go fullscreen. 🙂

Suno, printuri dementiale si tenisi reciclati

Am tot urmărit Suno si colecțiilor lor de câteva sezoane. E si interes profesional, dar și plăcere vinovată.

Acum, au lansat o ediție limitată de teniși colorați din material refolosit din foste colecții și cu talpa din cauciuc reciclat. Deci am făcut ochii mari și am chiuit de bucurie că simt că-i simt ca niște prieteni. Dacă au inițiative din astea, la început de faimă e cel mai bun semn.

Pentru a-și face cunoscut mesajul au cooptat bloggeri să-și posteze instantanee purtând tenișii.

Susie Bubble, Natalie Joos și Pamela Love sunt printre preferatele mele ca stil și, în opinia mea personalitate. Pentru că hainele pot reprezenta bine personalitatea, nu? Poza cu Natalie m-a făcut să visez că poate aș avea bani să-mi iau așa o pereche.

Călătoria pe care ar face-o tenișii să ajungă la mine nu e așa de prietenoasă cu Pământul, dar 10% din vânzări se duc la David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, adică pui de elefanți și rinoceri. Eh, înainte să mă lansez în calcule de cât de ecologică este această cumpărătură, pot să mă liniștesc că nu există fonduri.

Dar tot zâmbesc când văd poza.

Susie Bubble, Natalie Joos and Pamela Love are ammong my favorites style icons, but htey seem great gals too. Because clothes can reveal your personality, right? Natalie’s picture made me dream of getting a pair. 

The trip the sneakers would make to get to me isn’t so environmentally friendly, but 10% of the profit goes to David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, that is baby elephants and rhinos. But, before I launch myself in eco firendly maths, I can chill out, I don’t ahve the necessary funds. 

But I still smile when I see the picture.

De prin casa/ Around the home

Săptămână nebună cu călătorii, mult de lucru, m-am împrăștiat în prea multe direcții și trebuie să mă regrupez. Cea mai mare relaxare a ajuns să fie dimineața, când îmi caut treabă în grădină. Și-așa îmi plăcea mult Jessica Fletcher în Murder, She Wrote, am ajuns aproape ca ea înaintea vârstei.

Oricum beau ceai toată ziua și visez la lucruri molcome și liniștite, ca o bătrânică. Acum am mănuși de grădinărit cu floricele galbene, merg cu bicicleta peste tot și îmi agăț eșarfele de geantă. Nu-mi mai trebuie decât niște crime de rezolvat :D.

What I’ve discovered and been reading these days…

1/ S-a creat un index, The Higg Index, prin care companiile din moda pot sa testeze cat de sustenabile sunt. Creat de The Sustainable Apparel Coalition, indexul ia in calcul de la materiale si transport, la resturile din fabrica sau cum se trateaza apa reziduala. Sunt sigura ca va fi un ghid de referinta cat de curand, ce va accelera moda spre un comportament mai responsabil. Momentan e cam greoi, dar măcar toate informatiile se gasesc intr-un singur loc.

An index has beeen created, The Higg Index, that enables apparel companies tot test themsleves on how sustainable they are. Created by The Sustainable Apparel Coalition, the index takes into account textiles and transportation, fabric scraps and residual waste. I am sure it will be a refference guide soon, that accelerates fashion towards a more responsible behaviour. For the moment it’s not very user friendly, but it does gatherall the info in one place. 

2/ Apropo de Sustenabilitate, m-am înscris la cursul online de pe Coursera, sper că ați auzit de inițiativă (dacă nu, uitați-vă la TedTalk-ul de mai jos). Cursul începe mâine și de-abia aștept. Ultima oară erau 26.000 de înscriși, 4 de la noi din casă, zic cu mare mândrie.

Mi se pare obligatoriu să incluzi principii de sustenabilitate în viața de zi cu zi, îți schimbă perspectiva asupra rolului tău în societate și înveți participi la schimbare.

Aruncați o privire, cine știe dacă nu este un curs de la una dintre cele mai bune facultăți din lume care vă face cu ochiul. Plănuiesc să mă înscriu și la Critical Thinking, numai că înainte aștept să văd cum mă descurc cu temele și programul. Așa îmi împlinesc visul să fiu studentă toată viața :D.

And speaking of Sustainability, I have enrolled at the online class on Coursera, hope you’ve already heard of the initiative (if not, see the video below). The course will start tomorrow and I can hardly wait.  Last I checked there were 26.000 participant, 4 from our house, for which I am terribly proud. 

I think that it’s mandatory to include sustainable habits in daily life, it changes your perspective on the world and you are part of the change. 

Check it out, who knows if you don’t find the perfect top-university online class for you. I plan on enrolling at Critical Thinking too, just waiting to see how I handle the assignments and the schedule.  this way I will be a student all my life, dream com true. 😀

3/ Și că tot plănuiesc să mai rămân studentă și să încerc un master de moda, voiam sa consemnez o descoperire făcută în Paris.

Yiqing Yin face poezie cu pliseurile si materialele sale. Creatiile ei, romantice si cerebrale, îmi dau impresia că-mi vorbesc. Cu cât mă uit mai mult la ele, cu atât descopăr mai multe sensuri. Păcat că nu sunt multe poze pe site, dar puteti să vă delectați cu poze de la ultimul haute-couture pe Fashionising.

And since I am planning on staying a student a while longer and attempting a fashion MA, I wanted to note a discovery I made in Paris. 

Yiqing Yin is a poet that writes with pleats and fabric. HEr work, romantic and cerebral, give me the impression they are talking to me. The more I look at them, the more I discover new meanings. Too bad there aren’t more pictures on the site, but you can delve into her latest haute couture on Fashionising. 

4/Plănuiesc să mă uit la acest documentar, Why Beauty Matters, imediat după ce dau Publish. Am avut o relație foarte ciudată cu frumusețea și de ce avem nevoie de ea. Când eram mică, îmi doream să fiu practică și logică și nu înțelegeam de ce e nevoie de lucruri frumoase. Dar moda s-a ținut de mine și, până la urmă, am recunoscut că-mi trebuie lucruri frumoase, că m-am forțat să-mi nu-mi placă frumusețea. Amuzante contrastele din mintea noastră.

I plan on watching this documentary, Why Beauty Matters, right after I publish this. I had a very weird relationship with beauty and why I need it. When I was little, I longed to be practical and logical, I did not understand why beautiful things exist. But fashion followed me and, eventually, I admitted that I need beautiful things and that I was forcing myself not to lie beauty. Funny contrast in my mind. 

5/ După documentar, termin articolul despre somn de pe Brain Pickings. Am mai citit despre somn și importanța lui, m-a ajutat mult să revin la un program normal de somn și să n-am impresia că irosesc timpul dormind. Îmi trebuie o mică recapitulare, mă pregătesc de săptămâni solicitante și, deja, de-abia aștept să dorm.

Sau poate am să descopăr beneficiile fără să citesc articolul, că tare mi se închid ochii.

After the documentary, I will  finish the article about sleep on Brain Pickings. I have read about sleep and its importance before, it helped me come back to a normal sleeping pattern and to lose the feeling that I was wasting time. I need a recap, Iam running into some pretty busy weeks and I can’ wait to sleep. 

Or maybe I’ll just test the benefits directly, I am already falling asleep on the keyboard. 

 

FânFest și Roșia Montană

Weekend-ul acesta, am avut de ales între ecologizare pe Făgăraș, ca anul trecut, sau FânFest. Grea alegere, dar, după ce ne-am asigurat că sunt îndeajuns de mulți voluntari pentru a curăța refugiul, am ales să susținem turismul în Roșia Montană.

Deși am participat la multe din protestele organizate în București pentru a susține cauza, nu am ajuns până acum în Roșia Montană. Ne-am propus să mergem mai des, turismul ecologic este alternativa ideală proiectului cu cianuri.

This weekend we had to choose between a cleaning in the Făgăras mountains, like last year, or FânFest. Tough choice, but after we made sure there were enough volunteers to clean the refuge, we chose to support the Roșia Montană tourism. 

Although I have been at manyof their Bucharest protests to support the cause, I have never been at Roșia Montană. We have decided to go more often, ecological tourism is the ideal alternative to the cyanide project.  

Și e o zonă foarte frumoasă cu vegetație diversă și oameni curajoși. După aceste două zile de vizitat, chiar dacă la nivel minim, încep să simt mai multă speranță față de spiritul românilor. Poate politic suntem călcați în picioare, din nou, și vorbim despre noi cu dispreț și dorința de a evada, dar se găsesc alternative. Nu pot să denumesc mai concret această trăsătură, dar un mic spirit de rebel există acolo. Există vorba asta, de prin TedTalk-uri desprinsă, că un grup mic de oameni poate schimba lumea și, dacă fiecare se concentrează mai mult pe colțul lui, ne vom îndrepta cu siguranță în direcția bună. Asta e privirea de ansamblu, concluziile puse în perspectivă în urma a două zile de văzut.

And it is such a beautiful area, with diverse vegetation and brave people. After these two days of visiting, although at a minimal level, I am starting to feel hopeful for the Romanian spirit. Maybe politically we’re being stomped, again, and we talk about ourselves with much contempt or the wish to elope, but there are alternatives. I cannot pinpoint this feature, but there is a rebelious sprit outhere. There is a saying, that I’ve heard in Ted Talks, that a small group of people can change the world and that if everyone minded there little corner more, we will certaintly be heading the right way. This is the big view, conclusions put into perspective after two days of seeing. 

And now to the beautiful seen details. 

O bancă așezată pe vârful dealului, special pentru admirat peisajul și împrietenit cu junca. / A bench on the top of the hill for admiring the view and befriending the heifer. (just learned the word ‘heifer’)

Cineva a cules câteva mere și prune. Puteai să te înfrupți din toate, livezile în care am fost cazați cu cortul erau pline. Mai erau si mure, afine si alte minunății. / Someone picked apples and plums. You could indulge in both, the orchards in which we were camping were full of them. You could also find blackberries or blueberries and other wonders. 

Un număr fantastic pe una dintre case. / A fantastic house number on the long street. 

O frumoasă textură din lemn tăiat, surprinsă printre copaci. / A nice pattern of chopped wood. 

Cafeaua de dimineață, luată în sat. / The morning coffee in the village.

Pălăria obligatorie pentru capul și pielea mea sensibilă. De asta-s tot timpul albă ca laptele :P/ The mandatory hat for my sensitive head and skin. That’s why I’m always this white. 😛

Seara a fost plin de concerte faine, numai că n-am prea făcut poze în acele momente. Când se linișteau spiritele, începea spectacolul de lumini. / The evening was full of concerts, only we didn’t feel like taking pictures. When the spirits cooled down, the light show began.  Îmi place cum se ghicește silueta printre lumini. Aproape că pare ca atunci când se ridică cineva la cinematograf și e proiectat pe ecran. / I love how you can guess the silhouette among the light. It’s like when someone gets up at the cinema and is projected onto the screen. 

Iar când ne retrăgeam la corturi, aveam alt spectacol de lumini. Am prins Perseidele, ne-am pus multe dorințe și ne-am minunat încă o dată de imensitatea Universului. / And when we retired to the tents we had the other kind of light show. We were during the peak of the Perseids, we made a lot of wishes and wondered on more time of the greatness of the Universe. 

Iar duminică am participat la un mic protest dez-organizat. Am recunoscut activiști din București cu care am mai fost la proteste, am scandat și cântat și am promis că ne întoarcem cât mai des. / And Sunday we went to a small un-organised protest. I recognized Bucharest activist, we chanted and sang and promised to come back often. 

De la Redută, care are un dublu sens foarte amuzant, am coborât în sat, în piața din fața bisericii. A fost un drum plăcut, plin de entuziasm și improvizații, numai că soarele ne-a scurtat protestul. / From the Keep, which has a funny double meaning in Romanian (a fortiffied place or a public place with music and dance), we descended to the village place. It was a nice trip, full of enthuziasm and improvisation, but the sun cut it kind of short. 

La sfârșit eram bucuroși că am venit și ne-am îmbuibat cu energia locului.

Cine se bagă la vizitat zona și în afara festivalului? Mai avem multe lacuri de văzut și peisaje de admirat.

In the end we were happy we came and filled ourselves with the energy of the place. 

Who wants to visit the area outside the festival? We still have a lot of lakes to see and sights to admire. 

Din vârf de munte

Am tras o fugă până in vârf de munte. E la fel de frumos cum mi-l aminteam. Liniște multă, șoimi in zbor, copacii plantaţi de noi cresc in ciuda gerului de asta iarnă și a secetei de acum, iar noaptea se audgheruţe plimbându-se pe acoperiș.

Ăsta e hidden object game-ul natural de la noi din bordei. Sau camera unui criminal in serie, dacă ne luăm după numărul de satâre, topoare și alte chestii ascuţite de care filmele horror moderne ne avertizează. :p

Iar când merg acasă mesele sunt cea mai mare recompensă. Intotdeauna mă așteaptă germeni proaspeţi, caș cu găurele (cum îmi place mie) și urdă onctuoasă, salată cu cele mai gustoase legume și un vin să spele totul.
